- Is Wi-Fi 7 worth upgrading to now?
- It is worth it if your plan is above 1 Gbps, your home is busy, or you shift big files locally. On a 100 to 500 Mbps line with a handful of devices, a good Wi-Fi 6 router delivers the same daily experience for much less. The standard will still be there when your needs change.
- Do my devices need Wi-Fi 7 too?
- Yes, for the new features. Multi-Link Operation and 320 MHz channels need support at both ends. Older devices still connect at their own best speed and benefit a little from the router handling newer clients more efficiently, but they do not get Wi-Fi 7 rates.
- What is MLO in plain terms?
- Multi-Link Operation lets one device talk on two bands at the same time rather than choosing between them. That means more combined bandwidth and a smoother fallback when one band gets noisy, which in practice shows up as fewer stalls rather than a bigger number.
- Why do the 6 GHz speeds look so high?
- Those are the sum of theoretical per-band rates under ideal conditions, not internet speed and not what one device will see. Your broadband plan caps real throughput, and 6 GHz trades range for bandwidth. Read them as a ceiling, never as a promise.
