TP-Link RE615X Range extender: Wi-Fi 6 Prices and Specs

Overview

The TP-Link RE615X is an AX1800 Wi-Fi 6 range extender that plugs directly into a wall outlet and works in dual-band mode across 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz. It includes one Ethernet port rated at 1 Gbps and supports EasyMesh for compatible router setups.

Who it suits

This extender suits households looking to stretch an existing Wi-Fi 6 router's signal into nearby rooms, particularly where a single wired device like a TV or console needs a connection near the extender. It is also suited to setups where EasyMesh compatibility with the main router is confirmed, since mesh features depend on that support.

Reasons to consider it

It supports Wi-Fi 6 on both bands, giving it modern wireless standards over older AC extenders. The single Gigabit Ethernet port allows one wired device to connect at the extender's location. EasyMesh support means it can integrate into a unified network name if the primary router also supports EasyMesh.

Limitations and compatibility checks

There is no 6 GHz band, no wired backhaul option, and only one Ethernet port, which limits wired device connections at the extender. EasyMesh interoperability depends on the main router also supporting the EasyMesh standard, so mesh behavior is not guaranteed across all router brands.

FAQs

Does the RE615X support 6 GHz Wi-Fi?

No, it only operates on 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz bands.

Can I connect a wired device to this extender?

Yes, it has one Ethernet port rated at 1 Gbps for a single wired connection.

Will this work with my existing mesh system?

It uses the EasyMesh standard, so it can work with other EasyMesh-compatible routers, but it will not integrate into mesh systems from brands using proprietary, non-EasyMesh protocols.
