Overview
The Netgear Nighthawk M6 Pro is a portable 5G mmWave router with Wi-Fi 6E support across 2.4, 5, and 6 GHz bands. It runs on a removable 5040 mAh battery and includes a 2.8 inch touch display for status and settings.
Who it suits
This suits buyers who need mobile broadband via a swappable SIM rather than a fixed home setup, including those who travel internationally and want roaming support. It also fits users who want a single device handling both cellular and local Wi-Fi 6E connectivity on the go.
Reasons to consider it
It supports 5G mmWave and a single swappable SIM, making it usable across different carriers and regions. The 2.5 Gbps Ethernet port allows a wired connection where needed, and USB-C plus a removable battery add flexibility for charging and power swaps away from mains power.
Limitations and compatibility checks
There is only one Ethernet port and no PoE or wired backhaul support, so it is not built for multi-device wired networks or mesh expansion. Ecosystem compatibility is not specified, so pairing it with other mesh or Netgear products should not be assumed.

FAQs
- Can I use this without a SIM card for home Wi-Fi only?
- The spec does not confirm a SIM-free mode; it is built around a single swappable SIM for cellular connectivity, so a SIM appears necessary for its intended use.
- Does it support 6 GHz Wi-Fi?
- Yes, it includes 6 GHz as part of its tri-band Wi-Fi 6E support alongside 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz.
- Can I connect it to a wired network device directly?
- Yes, it has one Ethernet port rated up to 2.5 Gbps, though only a single port is available, so it cannot directly feed multiple wired devices without an external switch.
