Overview
The Google Nest Wifi Pro is a tri-band Wi-Fi 6E mesh system that supports 2.4, 5, and 6 GHz bands. It includes 2 Ethernet ports per unit with speeds up to 1 Gbps, and supports wired backhaul between nodes.
Who it suits
This is suited to households already using Google Nest devices who want a mesh system covering the newer 6 GHz band. It fits homes that want the option of wired backhaul between nodes rather than relying solely on wireless mesh links.
Reasons to consider it
It supports Wi-Fi 6E with 6 GHz band access, which not all mesh systems offer. The 2 Ethernet ports per unit and wired backhaul support give some flexibility for wiring nodes directly. It ties into the Google Nest ecosystem for setup and management.
Limitations and compatibility checks
There is no PoE or USB support, and Ethernet speed tops out at 1 Gbps. As part of the Google Nest ecosystem, it will not interoperate with mesh nodes from other brands.
