Overview
The TP-Link RE705X is a Wi-Fi 6 range extender with dual-band support (2.4 + 5 GHz) and an AX3000 rating. It includes one 1 Gbps Ethernet port and supports EasyMesh for compatible router setups.
Who it suits
This extender is suited to users wanting to extend an existing Wi-Fi 6 network without upgrading to a full mesh system. It fits homes with a single wired device to connect near the extender, given its single Ethernet port.
Reasons to consider it
It offers Wi-Fi 6 on both bands, which can help with newer client devices, and EasyMesh support allows integration with other EasyMesh-compatible routers. The 1 Gbps Ethernet port allows one wired connection for a nearby device such as a smart TV or console.
Limitations and compatibility checks
There is no 6 GHz band, so it cannot operate on the newer, less congested spectrum. It only has a single Ethernet port and no wired backhaul option, which limits wired device connections and backhaul flexibility. It also lacks USB and PoE support.
