Overview
The TP-Link EAP653 is a Wi-Fi 6 ceiling-mount access point built for the Omada ecosystem. It runs dual-band (2.4 + 5 GHz) with no 6 GHz support, and has a single 1 Gbps Ethernet port used for both data and PoE.
Who it suits
This fits buyers deploying or expanding an Omada-managed network who need a slim ceiling AP for a single wired drop location. It suits dual-band Wi-Fi 6 use cases rather than setups requiring 6 GHz or multi-gig wired uplinks.
Reasons to consider it
It supports Wi-Fi 6 on dual-band, uses a slim ceiling housing, and offers flexible power options including 802.3at PoE, 48V passive PoE, or 12V DC. The single Ethernet port is rated at 1 Gbps, matching typical ceiling AP deployments.
Limitations and compatibility checks
There is no 6 GHz band, so it cannot use that spectrum even if your other equipment supports it. It has only one Ethernet port, so there is no separate wired backhaul option, and it is tied to the Omada ecosystem for centralized management.
